It’s big confusion going on between the people in fitness- steroids and supplements. These are two different things.
The first thing that there are no similarities in there. The main difference between them is a steroid is a drug whereas a supplement is a dietary product.
Let me explain, the steroid is an illegal drug without a doctor or medical professional recommendation the drug can’t be taken. It’s a dangerous drug and has so many side effects. Everyone knows the side effects of steroids. There are some benefits but on the other side lots of disadvantages.
The first thing is why do you need a steroid?
This should be the first question that you need to ask yourself. If you are really young then your body is already producing a lot of hormones/ testosterone. You don’t need any kind of drug. At a certain age, a doctor or medical professional recommends you to take a certain amount of drugs. So, your organs or hormones but especially at old age your hormone levels are not working then you may need a certain amount of drugs to produce such hormone.
But this could be done by the doctor after the proper checkup. This is an illegal drug almost banned in 90% of countries. Some countries provide it over the counter which is really bad. Remember guys it shouldn’t be taken without the recommendation of the doctor or medical professional.
Now, let’s move on to supplements.
Supplements are dietary products- protein, carbs, fats, vitamins, and minerals. These are the 5 important macro and micronutrients which you need in your daily life for which your body works properly.
Your body functions properly which is important. Micro and macronutrients you consume in your daily life at breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. So, your body gets macro and micronutrients that’s why you are active and doing daily activities. A lot of people have a deficiency. They don’t get macro and micronutrients through diet. As they didn’t get those nutrients through a diet that’s why they need supplements.
We need micro and macronutrients so our body works properly throughout the day. That’s why it’s important to get macro and micronutrients through diet. First thing through diet but not all people has the perfect diet. If someone misses some nutrients in the diet, slowly month by month then your body gets a deficiency of that particular nutrient. Because of that your body part or organ becomes weaker as you didn’t provide that nutrient for last so many years.
Above mentioned fact is the main reason that you get a deficiency. When your doctor or nutritionist does your checkup and tells you that you have a deficiency of certain nutrients. You need to add them to your diet.
Here, let’s talk about deficiency.
People who have week bones and teeth then it means you have a deficiency of calcium. If your eyesight is weak then beta creatine and vitamin A deficiency. Then you will be needing a vitamin A supplement. People with weak muscles have protein deficiency. So, that’s why your nutritionist and certified personal trainer recommends you according to the deficiency.
The drug is totally a medical field as drug means medicine recommended by medical science.
But most of the time people have a protein deficiency of about 20% or less. Such low protein intake makes yours muscle weak and your immune system weak as well. And most of the people having protein deficiency are vegetarian. They don’t get enough protein because animal-based fo has more protein like chicken, eggs, fish, e.t.c. These all are lean protein sources.
Whereas beans, lentils, paneer have protein but pretty low but they are not the primary sources. They have the same amount of carbs or more. Then what to do if you are a vegetarian and have a protein deficiency?
Then yes you have to get protein supplements. If you are active then you need protein supplements right !!! If you want a perfect physique then you need all the important nutrients every day. But that’s impossible to get them through diet. You can’t consume all the nutrients in 5-6 meals. Then definitely you have to add supplements there if you really have set fitness or physical goal. So, you must eat every single nutrient.
To reach that goal which you have set you have to supplement it with the food. How much? About 10% to 20% you can replace food with supplements. A lot of people here take supplements but they don’t understand that it’s an add-on if you are not eating eggs, chicken, tuna, fish, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, e.t.c.
Not consuming through food and just using whey protein supplement then it’s not gonna work guys. You have to supplement it with food for 20%. Your diet is 80 to 90% for the body transformation then 10 to 20% game is on the supplements. Like performance supplements where you can do a good workout for which you can recover better but nothing else !!
